Ann Starkie provides consultancy to schools directly and also to other organisations with contracts in schools. She has been working in schools for over 17 years and has specialist expertise in Oxford and Cambridge applications, Career Focus, Psychometric testing which can aid the guidance process for which she is BPS accredited, and help gaining apprenticeships. She is author of Covering Letters for First Time Job Hunter by Trotman and a National Award Winner for a project run in a Norwich Primary School.
She is fully DBS checked, insured (Public and Professional Liability) and registered with the Association for Data Protection. She is a private practitioner on the register with the Career Development Institute.
Ann Starkie undertakes one to one sessions with Year 10, 11 students, Lower 6th and Upper 6th students. She can undertake small numbers of sessions or fill in sessions if required. The service is tailored to the school’s needs.
She can also undertake a number of lessons that cover key aspects of the careers education programme in the school and the requirements of the Schools development plan.
Ann uses a number of additional tools to help the guidance process, including assessments that allow greater knowledge of career suitability for students, applications to apprenticeships and utilising the best resources, finding post 16 and 18 opportunities so that pupils know where to look and how to apply for opportunities. She gives specialist guidance notes to help students progress, find opportunities and help with CVs, covering letters and interview support.
Ann has been involved in quality mark processes and gained Matrix in 2012. She is in the process of reapplying for this presently.
She can help advise the school on key governmental requirements and guidelines and also on making sure the Gatsby Framework that specifies eight main benchmarks for excellence in careers education and guidance in schools.
